1967 Ford Mustang

67 Mustang Shell

The team at RT Conversions will be taking a new 1967 Fastback Shell produced by Dynacorn industries and purchased from RRS, and transforming it into a 2009 modern street machine.

The theme behind the car is 'classic muscle car, modern style'. Therefore the aim is to produce a classic look muscle car that performs and feels like a present day performance car.

To comply with the modern theme the power train chosen for the 67 is the Ford Modular V8 Engine, which is a Quad cam supercharged engine putting out 605 Hp with 745 Nm Torque.

We have chosen to go with a full RRS kit for the running gear, which will improve the handling of the vehicle quiet extensively. (Check out the Link for a video on the difference between stock running gear and the RRS Kit HERE. A Phase 4 RRS brake package ensures that we have the stopping power to stop the car as required.

The interior will be full leather seats and trim and we intend to graft a modern dash and console from a still to be decided vehicle.

There are still a lot of decisions to be made as far as interior and paint colors etc, so keep an eye on the build up as we go.

Progress

As with all build ups and conversions, there are always challenges to overcome. This project is proving to be no different. After overcoming a few problems with the suspension, brakes, diff and axels, the car is now a rolling shell and is really starting to look like a muscle car.

Next-Up

Now how do we put a square peg in a round hole? The modular engine is wide, it is one of the widest motors we have worked with, it even looks wider the the Toyota 1UZ. A shock tower replacement was required to even get close to fitting this monster. So we will see how we go. Stay tuned.
